ZD Soft Privacy Policy
- Who We Are and Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Shenzhen ZD Soft Co., Ltd. (“ZD Soft”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information relating to an identified or identifiable individual (“Personal Data”) when you use:
- our websites and online pages (the “Sites”); and
- our locally-running desktop software and developer products (the “Products”), including ZD Screen Marker, ZD Screen Recorder, ZD Screen Recorder SDK, and etc.
We respect your privacy. Our Products process content locally on your device. We do not upload your recordings, screenshots, or similar user content to our servers—except where you choose to send data to us (e.g., logs for support; evaluation/experience videos for campaigns) or where we must process order, licensing, subscription or anti-piracy information.
We do not sell Personal Data.
- What We Collect
2.1 From the Sites (cookies/analytics)
- Technical usage data: IP address, browser/device type, OS, language, referring/exit pages, timestamps, pages viewed, approximate geolocation derived from IP, and similar diagnostics.
- Cookies & similar technologies for essential operation, analytics, preference storage, and—where legally required and with your consent—marketing performance measurement.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to help understand Site usage and improve the Site. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect usage data. You can manage non-essential cookies via our cookie controls (where available) and/or use Google’s opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Your browser settings may also allow you to block cookies (some Site features may not function properly if disabled).
2.2 From Product licensing and orders
- Order & billing info: name, email, billing address, order details, payment confirmation (handled by payment providers).
- License/activation & anti-piracy data: license key, activation/validation events or signals, limited device/environment attributes and timestamps as necessary to confirm licensing status and prevent abuse.
- SDK licensing: Licensed activation is embedded offline in the project source. The SDK can run without a key in trial mode (watermark & purchase prompts). No runtime online telemetry is required for SDK licensing.
2.3 You submit it to us
- Support & feedback: email, contact info, problem descriptions, and diagnostic logs you choose to share (may include file paths, device info, app settings, and in rare cases content snippets).
- Campaigns/marketing interactions: your email for newsletters or promotional activities (opt-in/soft opt-in as permitted by law), and optional assets you submit (e.g., recording-based evaluation/experience videos that may capture your screen, system audio, microphone, and camera).
- Verification codes: when you join certain activities or manage your subscription, we may email a short-lived one-time code solely to verify your email; the code expires and is deleted after use.
Tip: If you submit logs or recordings, please avoid sensitive content (IDs, passwords, keys, health data, minors’ information). If other individuals may be recorded, you are responsible for obtaining legally required consents.
- How We Use Personal Data
- Provide and secure the Sites and Products, including licensing/anti-piracy, updates, maintenance, and support you request.
- Process orders and payments, issue invoices/receipts, and manage subscriptions.
- Communicate about product updates, tips, news, and promotions. If you purchase/subscribe, you may receive such messages by default; every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. For emails collected via free-subscription campaigns, we obtain your explicit consent (checkbox) before sending.
- Operate campaigns (including sending verification codes and awarding benefits).
- Analytics (in aggregate or pseudonymized form) to understand Site performance and improve user experience.
- Legal compliance (tax, accounting, law-enforcement requests) and to protect our rights and users.
- Legal Bases (where applicable)
We rely on one or more of: contract necessity, legitimate interests (e.g., service security, limited product news to existing customers—always with opt-out), consent (certain marketing, cookies/analytics where required, voluntary submissions like logs/videos), and legal obligations. - Cookies & Analytics Controls
We use essential cookies for operation and may use analytics/performance cookies. Where required (e.g., EU/UK/EEA), we request consent for non-essential cookies. You can manage cookies via our banner (where provided) or your browser. Blocking some cookies may impact Site functionality. - Marketing Emails
- Purchasers/subscribers: receive product news, tips, and promotions; you may unsubscribe anytime via the link in each email.
- Campaign sign-ups: require consent (checkbox) before marketing emails are sent.
- Transactional/service emails (e.g., receipts, license data, verification codes) are not marketing and generally are not subject to opt-out.
- How We Share Data
We share data only as needed with:
- Payment/e-commerce processors, license/fulfillment providers;
- Email delivery and customer communications platforms;
- Hosting/IT and analytics providers for the Sites (including Google Analytics);
- Resellers/partners involved in fulfilling your order (where applicable);
- Authorities when legally required.
Processors are bound by appropriate contractual safeguards. We do not sell Personal Data.
- International Transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country/region (e.g., in China or other jurisdictions). Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) or rely on other lawful transfer mechanisms. - Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege, monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. - Data Retention
- Orders/tax/accounting: retained as required by law.
- Licensing/anti-piracy: retained for the license lifecycle and a reasonable period thereafter.
- Support tickets/logs: retained for the case and a reasonable improvement period.
- Marketing: retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent.
- Verification codes: short-lived and deleted after validity.
- Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and port Personal Data, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).
- EU/UK/EEA (GDPR): right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising; you may request access/deletion subject to statutory exceptions.
To exercise rights, email support@zdsoft.com. We may verify your identity.
- Children
Our Sites and Products are not intended for individuals under 18. If you believe a minor submitted data to us, contact us to remove it. - Third-Party Links
Our Sites may link to third-party sites/services with their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for their policies. - Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. For material changes, we will post a prominent notice on the Sites (and, where required, provide advance notice).
